Perfume Hacks: Unconventional Ways to Make Your Fragrance Last Longer

Perfume is a powerful tool that can enhance our mood, boost our confidence, and even make us feel more attractive. However, finding the perfect fragrance that matches our personality and style can be a daunting task. Once we've found our signature scent, we want it to last as long as possible. This is where perfume hacks come into play. In this blog, we'll explore some of the most popular perfume hacks and how they can help you make your fragrance last longer.

  1. Layering Scents

Layering different scents is one of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to perfume hacks. The idea is to combine different fragrances to create a unique and personalized scent. This technique works best with fragrances that share similar notes or families. For example, you can layer a floral perfume with a woody one to create a sophisticated and complex fragrance. However, be careful not to overdo it, as layering too many scents can result in a confusing and overwhelming smell.
This is one of my favorite ways to make scents last longer, check out this guide on how to know what scents to layer and this recipe for ASCENTION LAYERING.

  1. Moisturize Before Spraying

One of the most effective ways to make your perfume last longer is to moisturize your skin before spraying it. Dry skin tends to absorb fragrances faster, which can result in the scent fading away quickly. To avoid this, apply a fragrance-free moisturizer or body oil to your skin before spraying your perfume. The moisturizer will create a barrier between your skin and the fragrance, allowing it to last longer.
I love using rosehip oil before apply my perfume to give my skin a lasting healthy glow.

  1. Spray on Clothes

While spraying perfume directly on your skin is the traditional way of wearing fragrance, it's not the only option. Spraying your perfume on your clothes can help make it last longer, as clothes tend to hold on to fragrances longer than skin. However, be careful not to spray too much, as some fragrances can stain or damage certain fabrics, avoid silk and satin fabrics at all costs. To avoid this, spray a small amount on the inside of your clothing, such as the collar or cuffs. I love spraying my undergarments as well since my body heat activates the perfume to bloom.

  1. Hairbrush Trick

This is a controversial one. If you want your fragrance to last all day, try spraying it on your hairbrush before combing your hair. This will help distribute the fragrance evenly throughout your hair and prevent it from evaporating quickly. Additionally, the scent will be released every time you move your head, creating a subtle and alluring effect. (pro tip, spray your brush with unscented leave in conditioner first, then apply your perfume, let it sit for a few seconds for the alcohol to evaporate a bit and brush away!

  1. Store Perfume Properly

This one is super important and most often ignored. The way you store your perfume can affect its longevity. Heat, light, and humidity can all damage the fragrance and cause it to degrade faster, looking at you who is storing their perfume in their bathroom- I see you. To avoid this, store your perfume in a cool, dry, and dark place, such as a drawer or cabinet. Avoid storing it in the bathroom, as the humidity from showers can damage the fragrance.

In conclusion, these are just a few of the many perfume hacks that can help you make your fragrance last longer. Whether you choose to layer scents, moisturize before spraying, spray on clothes, use the hairbrush trick, or store your perfume properly, these tips can help you enhance the longevity of your favorite fragrance. By experimenting with different techniques, you can find the perfect perfume hack that works for you and your signature scent. Let me know what you think and if you have any of your own that you've tried.
